Amlodipine 10mg is used to treat high blood pressure (hypertension), coronary artery disease and angina. Amlodipine is the first line treatment for patients who are at risk of cardiovascular disease due to high blood pressure. The tablets aim to lower blood pressure, and help blood flow more easily to the heart when the heart arteries are blocked.
Amlodipine is prescribed to treat chronic stable angina, prevent chest pain and heart attack. Amlodipine can be used alone or in combination with other heart medications.
Dosge:
Amlodipine 10mg tablets should be taken daily with a glass of water, with or without food. Take exact dosage as recommended by your doctor.
Side Effects:
Common side effects include pounding heartbeats, chest pain, swelling feet or ankles, drowsiness, or light-headed.
Allergic reaction to amlodipine includes difficulty breathing, swelling of face/ lips/ tongue, itchy throat, or hives.
Seek emergency medical attention asap if you have symptoms such as chest pain, shoulder pain, nausea, or sweating.
Precautions:
Do not take amlodipine if you are allergic to the medicine.
Tell your doctor if you are pregnant, plan to become pregnant or breast-feeding before taking Amlodipine.
Ask your doctor to make sure amlodipine is right for you, if you have any liver or heart problems.
If chest pain may become worse when you first start taking amlodipine, contact your doctor immediately if your chest pain is severe or ongoing.
