Lumigan is used for reducing of the elevated intraocular pressure with glaucoma or ocular hypertension.
Wash hands before using Lumigan eye drops. Apply one drop of Lumigan in the affected eye once a day or as directed by doctors.
Lumigan (Bimatoprost Ophthalmic Solution) can also be use to treat hypotrichosis of the eyelashes including length, thickness and darkness.
Lumigan 0.03% is also marketed as Latisse which is used in the treatment for inadequate or not enough lashes.
For eyelashes, use Lumigan once in evenings after facial cleansing and contact-lens removal. Apply one drop of Lumigan on a sterile eyeliner applicator to the upper eyelid margin, the base of the upper eyelashes until the eyelashes are moist. Blot any excess solution runoff by tissues or cotton. Repeat for another eye with a new sterile applicator. Do not apply any Lumigan on the lower eyelashes. Eyelashes growth will be revert back to pre-treatment level upon discontinuation of the medication.
Side effects may include dry eyes, eye pruritus (itchiness), skin hyperpigmentation (increase in natural color of skin), ocular irritations, conjunctival hyperemia (abnormal large amount of blood the mucous membrane that lines the exposed portion of the eyeball and inner surface of the eyelids), inflammation of the eyelid, visual disturbance, eye discharge, etc.
Stop using Lumigan if any serious discomfort or serious irritation occurs. Consult with your doctor immediately.
